Kyiv, July 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Joint-stock company Kyivstar has assessed that the minimum term for launching the UMTS (3G) network is six months from the moment of receiving access to the radio frequency spectrum, Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer at Kyivstar Andriy Osadchuk said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

"As soon as we receive real access to the radio frequency spectrum, we'll appeal to our investor, despite the current situation… Six months is the minimum term for the building of the network," he said.

Osadchuk said that in six months it is impossible to cover the whole country, and this will concern the launch of the network into commercial use in Kyiv and largest cities.

As reported, on July 23, 2014, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ordered to take measures to convert radio frequency bands by August 15, 2014 to introduce 3G. According to the order, the tender is to be held by October 30, 2014.
