Erdogan announces his readiness to establish Russian-Ukrainian dialogue
Turkey is ready to make efforts to resume Russian-Ukrainian negotiations, Anadolu Agency said on Wednesday, citing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"We are ready to re-establish the negotiation table, which we previously set up in Istanbul, for peace," Erdogan said in a video address to the participants of the Ukraine-Southeastern Europe summit.
"I am of the opinion that diplomacy and dialogue must be given a chance to end the war by achieving a just and lasting peace. I believe that it is necessary to begin joint efforts to at least determine the general parameters of peace," the Turkish leader said.
Erdogan also noted the need to establish principles for guaranteeing the safety of commercial ships in the Black Sea and said that Ankara is participating in negotiations to create a new UN provision on security obligations.
