Zaporizhia-based enterprises of the Metinvest mining and metallurgical group – Zaporozhstal, Zaporizhvohnetryv, Zaporizhkoks and the Zaporizhia Foundry and Mechanical Plant – in 2023 transferred a total of more than UAH 2.1 billion in taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels.

According to the company's press release on Friday, receipts of local budgets exceeded UAH 818 million.

General Director of Zaporizhstal Roman Slobodyaniuk said that underutilization of capacities, shortage of qualified personnel, blockade of sea ports and other challenges were the challenges of 2023 in which metallurgists of Ukraine worked.

"Despite this, every second ton of cast iron, steel and rolled products produced in Ukraine last year was metal produced by Zaporizhstal. This is our steel support for Ukraine on the path to victory, so we continue to work to fuel the national economy and maintain the country's defense capability, ensure the employment of specialists in the industry and take care of the team, finance and implement humanitarian projects," Slobodyaniuk is quoted by the press service.

At the same time, in the structure of taxes and fees in 2023, the largest in volume were payments of the unified personal income tax and the unified social security contribution. Also, a significant share of payments falls on environmental and land taxes.

The press service recalled that Zaporizhia-based enterprises of Metinvest, under martial law, refused tax benefits of more than UAH 350 million in favor of the state. The amount of tax payments that Zaporizhia metallurgists of Metinvest additionally paid to the state budget during the grace period exceeds UAH 350 million, of which more than UAH 200 million went to local budgets.
