Ukraine, Hungary to create special commission assigned to present ‘concrete understanding’ on issues of national minorities from Budapest in ten days – Kuleba

Hungary has provided Ukraine with a list of issues regarding the protection of the rights of the Hungarian minority, and in 10 days a special commission will submit to the governments of both countries a "concrete understanding" of what needs to be resolved from this list or has already been settled, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

"We agreed on one simple thing. We asked the Hungarian side to provide us with an exhaustive list of questions that it has on the issue of protecting the rights of people who belong to national minorities. We have received this list. We agreed that under the auspices of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, we will assemble a special commission, which has one very simple task: in 10 days it should submit to the Governments of both countries a specific understanding of how and what of the list of issues that we have received needs to be resolved, or has already been settled, so that we can make a final clarity," Kuleba said at a press conference in Uzhgorod on Monday.

He stressed that the Ukrainian and Ugric sides agreed that they want to resolve the issue of the rights of national minorities, and a significant part of the meeting in Uzhgorod was devoted to this topic.

As reported, on January 29, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Economy and Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto held talks in Uzhgorod.
