Commanders of Ukrainian, Norwegian Navies discuss situation in Azov-Black Sea region

 Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neyizhpapa, has held an online meeting with Rear Admiral and new chief of the Royal Norwegian Navy Oliver Berdal.

"During the meeting, the parties discussed the situation in the Azov-Black Sea region. Special attention was paid to the needs of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for military assistance, taking into account challenges and threats," the press service of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Facebook.

Neyizhpapa thanked his colleague for the resolute support of Ukraine and one of the key roles in creating a coalition to develop the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian Navy.

The commanders agreed to develop friendly relations to strengthen common capabilities in the defense sector.

As reported, on December 11, 2023, the United Kingdom and Norway officially announced the creation of a Coalition of naval forces and means to support Ukraine's maritime capabilities. The new maritime coalition will work closely with the Ukrainian Navy and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to rapidly develop naval forces in the Black Sea.
