Syrsky: Enemy intensively advancing in Kupyansk, Lymany, Siversk and Bakhmut directions – we’re strengthening defense

The situation in the east remains difficult, the enemy continues intensive offensive operations in Kupyansk, Lymany, Siversk and Bakhmut directions, said Oleksandr Syrsky, commander of the AFU Ground Forces.

"In Kupyansk direction, the enemy is trying to capture Synkivka at any cost and create conditions for blocking Kupyansk. After the losses incurred, it regroups its units. The enemy continues to increase efforts by moving units to other areas. The total number of personnel of the enemy assault units is more than 2,000," the commander wrote on the Telegram channel.

In Lymany direction, the aggressor resumed intensive offensive operations to oust Ukrainian troops from Serebrianske forestry area and expand the Torsky salient. Syrsky noted that the enemy also does not give up attempts to capture Terniv and access to the Chorny Zherebets River.

In turn, in Siversky direction, the enemy is trying to develop an offensive in the areas of Spirne and Belohorivka.

"It is training assault units from among the airborne units to develop an offensive in the direction of Soledar, Siversk," the commander added.

Intensive offensive operations are also continuing in Bakhmut direction. So, the enemy is trying to capture Bohdanivka, restore the lost position in the areas of Klischiyivka, Kurdiumivka and Andriyivka. According to Syrsky, the enemy uses assault groups of the "volunteer corps", which were moved from the southern direction, in addition, the personnel of the marine corps of the Caspian Flotilla were involved.

He stressed that the enemy has recently significantly increased the use of armored vehicles, kamikaze drones and continues to conduct intensive artillery attacks.

"In all directions of the enemy's offensive, our commanders at all levels are taking the necessary measures to strengthen the defense and prevent the enemy from advancing. I would like to note the effective work of the headquarters of military units in responding promptly to the actions of the enemy and preparing the most optimal options for our actions, depending on the current situation," said Syrsky.

Separately, he noted that despite the difficult situation, the Ukrainian soldiers are holding back the enemy's advance and inflicting significant losses on him.

Over the past week, the occupiers have lost more than three thousand personnel in the Eastern direction, of which more than a thousand people were killed. Some 361 units of enemy equipment were destroyed and damaged. Of these, 43 tanks, 83 armored combat vehicles, 69 artillery systems.

"In the conditions of active hostilities, our priorities remain the preservation of the lives of our soldiers, the effective use of fire weapons, constant reconnaissance and prompt decision-making," said the commander of the Ground Forces.
