Zelenskyy discusses with Romanian PM new logistics routes for transit of Ukrainian agricultural products

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"I met with Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu. We discussed further defense support for Ukraine from Romania and food security issues, namely the importance of developing new logistics routes for the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through Romania," the president wrote on Telegram.

According to Zelenskyy's press service, during the meeting they also discussed Ukraine's progress on its way to the EU, in particular in implementing the recommendations of the European Commission to begin negotiations on accession to the European Union.

The President of Ukraine thanked the Romanian side for the military assistance packages that strengthened Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield, as well as for humanitarian support and assistance in the evacuation of Ukrainians from Israel to Romania.

Zelenskyy also highly appreciated the results of his recent visit to Romania, as well as the first joint meeting of the governments of the two countries in the history of Ukrainian-Romanian relations, which took place today in Kyiv.

"This is a great achievement after our agreements at the presidential level to build strategic partnership between the countries. Today we see the development of these agreements," Zelenskyy said.

The Head of State expressed confidence that Ukraine-Romania relations would be further built up. This will be facilitated by the resolution of topical issues of the bilateral agenda.

"Today, the strategic decision we have been talking about regarding the Romanian language has been made. I think this is the answer to how we will and want to work together," Zelenskyy said.

The President outlined the key priorities for further defense support of Ukraine by Romania, in particular, taking into account the need to ensure the protection of the southern region of our country and the port infrastructure of the Danube from Russian air attacks.
