The European Investment Bank (EIB) will allocate EUR30.7 million for the implementation of projects to modernize municipal infrastructure and urban transport in Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, Lutsk and Sumy, the press service of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine reported.

Of the allocated funds, EUR 22 million will be used to purchase trolleybuses and trams produced by Ukrainian companies for Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa.

Another EUR8.7 million will be allocated for the rehabilitating the Hrybovychi landfill and solid waste management facility in Lviv, improving the energy efficiency of kindergartens in Sumy, and improving water supply and drainage systems in Lutsk.

“The EIB’s support for Ukraine is unwavering. This new funding underscores our commitment to assist not only in bringing immediate relief, but also in the longer-term rebuilding of the country. Whether it’s about a new tram connection or enhancing local services, everything we do is directed towards facilitating economic recovery and bringing back normality to the daily lives of war-shattered Ukrainian people,” EIB President Werner Hoyer said.

According to the report, this support is part of the EIB Ukraine Solidarity Urgent Response package, which has already provided Ukraine with EUR1.7 billion since 2022.
