Kyiv authorities increased the financing for the Kyiv Defender municipal targeted program by UAH 1.26 billion for the assistance to the security and defense forces of the capital, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.

"Kyiv Security Council, at an unscheduled meeting, has increased the assistance to our defenders. In particular, the deputies voted in favor of increasing the financing of the Kyiv Defender municipal targeted program by UAH 1.26 billion. These funds will be spent on the material and technical support for the defense and security forces," he said on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.

The money will be spent on "the purchase of vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, optical sights, night vision devices, repairs and restoration of equipment and other necessary things. This is a subvention, we transfer money to the military units," Klitschko said.

The mayor also said that Kyiv City Council allocated over UAH 1.2 billion for the Transport Infrastructure Department to regulate public transport fares in the city because the price per trip of UAH 8 has not been corresponding to the cost price of public transport services for a long time.

"We do not raise tariffs, however, the transport enterprises need to work, so, we have to ensure this opportunity for them," Klitschko said.
