President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola says it is necessary to develop a strategy, the implementation of which will hit the Russian economy in proportion to the unprecedented brutality of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine.

Opening the plenary meeting in Strasbourg on Monday, she said that Ukraine is fighting for European values ​​in the most impossible conditions, and the EU must support them. Concretely, this means that the European Parliament urgently need to adopt a new package of tough sanctions. The European Parliament must go after those who play a role in supporting Putin and close the gaps that still exist. Putin's oligarchs and all members of his political party must not find a place to hide, Metsola said.

The President of the European Parliament also believes that the EU should start working on a strategy to make this illegal invasion the most expensive mistake the Kremlin has ever made. The blow to the Russian economy must be proportional to the unprecedented brutality that the EU sees. The EU companies need to look elsewhere for growth, and this the European Parliament will support.
