The International Court of Justice will announce the decision on temporary restrictive measures requested by Ukraine in a lawsuit against Russia, March 16.

The relevant announcement was distributed by the press service of the Court on Monday. "On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 the International Court of Justice, the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, will deliver its Order on the Allegations of Genocide under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Ukraine v. Russian Federation)," the court said in the statement.

A public sitting will take place at 4 p.m. at the Peace Palace in The Hague, during which the President of the Court, Judge Joan E. Donoghue, will read out the Court's Order. "In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, only Members of the Court and representatives of the States Parties to the case will be present in the Great Hall of Justice. Members of the diplomatic corps, the media and the public will be able to follow the reading through a live webcast on the Court's website, as well as on UN Web TV, the United Nations online television channel."

As part of the first hearing of the case, which took place on March 7, co-agent of Ukraine Oksana Zolotariova announced the provisional measures requested by the court of Ukraine: Russia must immediately stop the military operation launched on February 24, 2022, Russia must immediately ensure that no military or irregular military units, which may be directed or supported by it, and any organizations and persons which may be under its control or influence, will not take any action in advancing the military operation. "Russia must also refrain from taking any action and must provide assurance that no action will be taken that could aggravate or expand the dispute that is the subject of this application, or make this dispute more difficult to resolve," the co-agent said.

Russia did not take part in the hearings on this claim.
