Shmyhal calls on citizens of EU contries to support Ukraine's EU membership

Prime Minister Denys Shmygal has asked the citizens of the European Union member states to call on their governments to make a positive decision on granting Ukraine the status of an EU candidate.

"In the coming days, the countries of the European Union will consider granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership. This issue will become one of the defining ones in the history of Europe and the European Union for years to come. We, of course, look forward to this from our European partners," Shmyhal said in his address on Thursday evening.

In this connection, the Prime Minister appealed not only to European leaders, but also to all citizens of the EU countries: "Support Ukraine now. Ukraine has earned the right to become a member of the European Union."

"Citizens of the EU member states should loudly say their word so that your governments have no doubts about what decision they should make," he said.
