Twenty people drown in Ukraine on Aug 19

Twenty people drowned in Ukraine's reservoirs on Sunday, August 19, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has said.

In particular, in Kherson region, divers found the body of a drowned boy, born in 2006, who slipped on a pumping plant pipe and fell into the water. In total, five drownings were recorded in the region in the past day.

Another case of the child's death on the water was recorded in Volyn region. In a private pond in the village of Sedlysche, Stara Vyzhivka district, local residents removed from the water the body of a drowned child born in 2009.

Two deaths on the water were registered each in Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia and Zakarpattia regions. In addition, fatalities were also recorded in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Ternopil and Luhansk regions.

Since the beginning of this year, 946 people, including 93 children, have already died in the country's reservoirs. At the same time, 602 people, including 112 children, were rescued.
