Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree appointing Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Rostyslav Pavlenko director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies.

The decree, No. 221/2018 of July 30, has been posted on the website of the head of state.

Poroshenko also signed a decree dismissing Volodymyr Horbulin as director of this institute.

Horbulin was dismissed due to his switching to work at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In addition, Poroshenko dismissed Pavlenko as deputy head of the Presidential Administration (due to his transfer to another job).

Pavlenko, born in 1976, was appointed deputy head of the President Administration at the end of 2014. He is a people's deputy of Ukraine of the seventh and eighth convocations.

The National Institute for Strategic Studies was established by a presidential decree of March 4, 1992. By a decree of December 16, 2002 the institute is subordinated to the president of Ukraine and is determined as a basic research institution of analytical and forecast support of the activities of the head of state.
