Hungary sends Zakarpattia liquid chlorine as humanitarian assistance

Hungary send to Zakarpattia region a lot of liquid chlorine for the disinfection of drinking water, the press service of Zakarpattia region's head Hennadiy Moskal has said.

"The Hungarian government sent over a batch of liquid chlorine for disinfection of drinking water, which is centrally supplied to the population. On Tuesday (July 24), a truck with chlorine arrived from Hungary via the Tisa international checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border accompanied by a Consul General of Hungary in the city of Uzhgorod Buhajla Jozsef," the press service said.

According to Moskal, after a critical situation with the supply of domestic chlorine was created in Ukraine, an official appeal was sent to the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod with a request for help.

"We immediately received a positive response. Today, three tonnes of liquid chlorine arrived in Zakarpattia. It will be used by the Uzhgorod Vodokanal, and from there we will distribute this strategically important substance to the regions depending on need. Hungary is ready to supply 15 tonnes of chlorine, which is sufficient for uninterrupted work of 18 enterprises of Zakarpattia Vodokanal over six weeks," Moskal said.
