Rada asks intl community not to recognize legitimacy of Russian presidential elections in Crimea

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has asked the United Nations Security Council and UN General Assembly, the OSCE, the EU, NATO, international organizations, foreign parliaments and governments not to recognize the legitimacy of Russian presidential elections in Russia-occupied Crimea.

Some 255 parliament deputies voted in favor of the motion, far more than the 226 simple majority required.

The text of the Rada's appeal asks the foreign international community to "condemn Russian parliamentary elections if they are held in Crimea and not to send election observers there under the auspices of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE."

The appeal says also that illegitimate voting in Russia-occupied Crimea will alter the results of Russia's presidential elections.
