The Ukrainian Sea Port Authority on January 30, 2018 signed the acceptance certificate for a section of the Yuzhny seaport (Odesa region) near newly created berth No. 25 where dredging works were carried out and which would ensure operating of the new grain terminal of Cargill and M.V.Cargo.

An Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported that Head of the Yuzhny brand of the Ukrainian Sea Port Authority Maskym Shyrokov, China Harbour Engineering Сompany Ltd. (CHEC) Director General in Ukraine Lin Tao signed the document on Tuesday.

"This is one of the powerful investment projects of the port industry in Ukraine, which is carried out on the terms of public private partnership. Today we are closing a part of the state obligations that the Ukrainian Sea Port Authority took over and successfully implemented them. The main result of the project was the fact that we proved - the state can be a reliable partner for business," Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan, who was present at the signing ceremony, said.

He said that China is a strategic partner for Ukraine, and the latter is ready to develop cooperation in all areas.

"That is why it is important for me that Chinese companies are participating in the development of the infrastructure of state-owned seaports today," Omelyan said.

In the course of the dredging works, 4.4 million cubic meters of soil was raised and a depth of 16 meters was reached, which allows processing large-tonnage vessels of the Panamax type at the new berth.

During the ceremony, it was said that the project was implemented in record time. Work began on July 20, 2017, and ended in five months - December 27, which is three months ahead of the planned deadline.
