Attack of Russian law enforcers on 'Crimean initiative' shows fear over Crimeans helping each other – Klimkin

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, after the meeting of the public association 'Crimean initiative' in the occupied Crimea was interrupted by representatives of the so-called law enforcement agencies, recalled the demand of the democratic world to stop the violation of human rights and political persecution on the peninsula.

"The Russian invaders broke into the meeting of the public association 'Crimean solidarity.' "I can't believe they are so afraid that Crimeans help each other and support the families of political prisoners. To stop violating human rights and political persecution in the occupied Crimea is a demand of the entire democratic world to Russia," Klimkin wrote on Twitter on Monday.

As reported, on January 27, a meeting of members of the Crimean Tatar social movement 'Crimean Solidarity' in Sudak was invaded by employees of the so-called law enforcement agencies," said Ukraine's Member of Parliament from Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov.

"Soon after the beginning of the meeting, involving about 150 people - friends and relatives of Crimean political prisoners, members of regional and local Mejlis, activists of the Crimean Tatar national movement, lawyers, 60-70 employees of the occupation police, riot policemen, the Center for Combating Extremism broke into. Law enforcers, marked with chevrons of the Russia Guard were also seen there. Prison trucks were also pulled there," he wrote on his Facebook page on Sunday.

According to him, "law enforcers" explained their invasion by the fact that they allegedly received information about the presence of weapons in the room where the meeting was taking place.

Later, he also urged the Crimeans to boycott the presidential elections in Russia.

"On the other hand, a very bright and persuasive rally that in maximally intelligible form shows all the inhabitants of Crimea how to behave on March 18, 2018, on which the invaders appointed illegal elections of the "president" of Russia," the politician said on his Facebook page.
