Anticorruption court creation, implementation of Association Agreement expected from Kyiv

Western partners expect the authorities of Ukraine to create the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court in accordance with all the standards, and the implementation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement, the Prague-based U.S.-government funded Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe (RFE/RL) has reported.

If we say what Ukraine expects outside the state itself, we are talking about several points: at the moment, the proper creation of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court is crucial. The great step that we have been waiting for a long time was that President Poroshenko before the New year sent this bill to the Verkhovna Rada. Civil society and the international community have a few comments to it that the Venice Commission has clearly defined, Head of the Support Group for Ukraine in the European Commission Peter Wagner was quoted as saying by RFE/RL on Monday evening.

According to him, the second important issue, although "mostly technical," is the implementation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement.

In particular, how to ensure economic growth again is very important before the elections so that people feel the benefits of carrying out reforms, Wagner added.

The information also mentions that the support group of Ukraine was established in the European Commission in April 2014. One of the missions of the group is the coordination of work with the EU countries for the most effective use of European investments in Ukraine's reform. Using the experience of the EU countries, 32 experts from the European Commission, as well as the UK, the Netherlands, Poland and Lithuania, which are divided into nine thematic groups, advise and provide financial assistance to better promote Ukrainian reforms.

The creation of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court is one of the key requirements of a number of international partners that give Ukraine money in exchange for reforms.

In addition, analysts claimed that Ukraine had fulfilled about a dozen of more than 80 commitments, which are stipulated in the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
