U.S., UK, Canadian diplomats condemn Sunday confrontation at Zhovtnevy palace in Kyiv

The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has supported the diplomats of other countries in their assessment of the confrontation near Zhovtnevy Palace (October Palace) in downtown Kyiv on Sunday afternoon.

"We agree with our Canadian and U.K. colleagues. Attempts to seize and damage public buildings are an abuse of the right to peaceful protest," the embassy said on its Twitter page.

Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk wrote earlier on Twitter: "Attempts to seize and damage public buildings are an abuse of the right to peaceful protest."

For her part, British Ambassador Judith Gough tweeted she completely agrees with the Canadian colleague.
