Poroshenko welcomes extension of EU sanctions against Russia
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has welcomed the extension of European Union sanctions against Russia.
"[It is] an important political decision by the leaders of the European Union to continue economic sanctions against Russia for violating Ukraine's territorial integrity and unwillingness to stop hybrid aggression against our country," Poroshenko wrote on Facebook on Thursday evening.
"It is a decent response to Moscow for failing to fulfill its commitments and clear call for change in the Kremlin's policy," he added.
He also thanked German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of France Emmanuel Macron as partners within the Normandy format, as well as all other EU friends "for strong support of Ukraine and unbreakable unity and solidarity in front of aggressor."
"The future of peace, security and prosperity of our European home depends on restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine!" he wrote.
