Avakov claims Yanukovych ordered forceful "breakup of Maidan" in winter of 2013-2014
Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov claims that he knows that the former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych gave the command to force actions against the protesters on Madain in the winter of 2013-2014.
"When I became minister, I talked a lot with the former and current employees of the ministry, and I understand how such mechanisms work. Of course, Viktor Fedorovych did not inform me, but I know for sure that he gave such commands," Avakov said during testimony in the case of high treason of Viktor Yanukovych in the Obolonsky District Court of Kyiv, answering the question of lawyer Vitaliy Serdiuk whether he knows that Viktor Yanukovych and former Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko gave appropriate orders.
Avakov also noted that the most tragic events on the Maidan in Kyiv, beginning on February 18, 2014, were due to the fact that "Yanukovych and his cronies gave orders for the bloody breakup of the Maidan."
