Saakashvili and supporters approach Rada, where security reinforced

1 min read

Former Georgian President and leader of the Movement of New Forces Mikheil Saakashvili, accompanied by his supporters, has approached the Verkhovna Rada building.

A column of the politician's supporters moved to Constitution Square from European Square along Hrushevskoho Street, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported. As the column has stretched out, it is difficult to evaluate the numbers of protesters, but there are likely around 1,000.

The National Guard and police officers have placed a cordon with metallic barriers around the Ukrainian parliament building.

The situation near the Verkhovna Rada is currently calm.
