Head of Ukraine's Council of Judges urge authorities to immediately resolve courts' protection issue

Chairman of Ukraine's Council of Judges, judge of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, Valentyna Symonenko, in connection with the explosion in the Nikopol court, has urged the authorities to immediately resolve the issue of courts protection.

In connection with the explosion in the court in the town of Nikopol, I once again stress and appeal to all authorized state authorities to immediately resolve the issue of courts protection. Over the past few years, the Council of Judges of Ukraine has repeatedly drawn attention to the inadmissibility of improper protection of the courts, since its absence leads to free access to the premises of courts for persons who interfere with the work of courts, judges, and staff of the court apparatus, pose a threat to the participants in the process and visitors. We even recommended judges, in case of danger, stop the work of the court," the Council of Judges of Ukraine posted Symonenko's statement on its website on Thursday.

Symomenko stressed that the event in the Nikopol court was a natural consequence of both the lack of such a response and irresponsible attitude to the problems of the judiciary, the solution of which is impossible without the consolidated efforts of all interested and responsible structures.
