Ukrposhta seeks to rebrand over 120 departments in 2018

Public joint-stock company Ukrposhta (Kyiv) in 2017 reconstructed eight departments in Ukraine as part of its rebranding, and in 2018 it seeks to reconstruct at least 120 departments and open them under the new logo.

"Our strategy is to invest minimum of funds [in reconstruction], since we it would take too long to coordinate capital investments. In an ideal scenario, new decoration, furniture or equipment that can be quickly put in. We have already opened several new offices mainly near the major markets, for example, at the Seventh Kilometer (Odesa)," General Director of Ukrposhta Ihor Smeliansky told Interfax-Ukraine on the sidelines of a logistics day in the European Business Association (EBA).

He said that first of all the branches where the technological processes are updated and good results are recorded would be rebranded.

According to him, the number of new vehicles purchased by Ukrposhta will be 250 units by the end of this year.

In addition, by the end of the first quarter of 2018, each branch in villages with a population of more than 2,000 people will be computerized.

"It would double the number of automated branches. We are trying to computerize villages with a population of less than 2,000 people, but with the help of mobile offices. Now we test different cars. Unfortunately, some "pilots" showed that in some places there are no roads and some are not marked on maps. Ukraine does not even have a register of addresses. This is a very difficult issue, but we are doing everything possible to create these registers, because we have more than 80% of the branches located in villages with a population of less than 2,000 people. 12 million people live there who would join civilization or not," he said.

He also said that the company is working on launching a courier delivery service. It is negotiating with a small Ukrainian bank on concluding a "strategic cooperation" for the possible introduction of some banking services in the branches. Smeliansky did not specify the name of the bank.

According to his forecast, the growth of e-commerce in 2017 in Ukraine will be 20-25%.
