Representatives of presidents of Ukraine, Poland agree to lift moratorium on exhumation

Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Kostiantyn Yeliseyev and Head of the Polish president's office Krzysztof Szczerski have arranged the holding of an intergovernmental meeting of deputy prime ministers and discuss the lifting of a moratoriu on exhumation works.

The press service of the Ukrainian president has reported that at the meeting of the Consultative Committee in Krakow (Poland) under the orders of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Polish President Andrzej Duda Yeliseyev and Szczerski agreed with the necessity of lifting the moratorium.

"In this context it was decided to hold an intergovernmental meeting of deputy prime ministers in the near term," the press service said.

At the meeting Yeliseyev and Szczerski confirmed that it is important to continue the work of the bilateral intergovernmental commission for protection and return of items of cultural value.

"Ukraine and Poland decided to cooperate with relevant local authorities to solve the issues of mutual interest," the press service said.

The officials also discussed the preparation for a visit of Duda to Kharkiv in December 2017.

They also exchanged opinions on the future Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Brussels on November 24.
