Commissioner Hahn confirms EU readiness to continue supporting Ukraine on reforms path

EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Johannes Hahn at a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv confirmed the readiness of the European Union to continue supporting Kyiv on the path of European reforms.

"The EU Commissioner noted the dynamics of the reforms in Ukraine over the recent period and confirmed the EU readiness to continue providing all-round support for internal reforms aimed at further rapprochement with the European Union," the presidential press service said on Wednesday.

He added that Ukraine is currently ready to release 306 people in exchange for 74 prisoners held in areas of Donetsk and Luhansk region beyond Kyiv control. And this could be done before the New Year and Christmas holidays.

Poroshenko and Hahn also exchanged views on preparations for the Eastern Partnership summit, which will be held in Brussels on November 24, 2017.

The president of Ukraine also thanked the European Union for its support of the territorial integrity, as evidenced by the voting at the Third Committee for the draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on the violation of human rights in Crimea.
