Law enforcers raid State Aviation Service of Ukraine, manager suspected of taking bribes

 Investigators of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) jointly with officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on Thursday raided the premises of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine. The raid is related to disclosing a head of one of the authority's departments who demanded a $7,000 bribe.

"The head of the department was detained red handed at once after he received the second part of the sum in the amount of $3,000… At present, the premises of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine and the place where the head of the department lives are raided," the press service of Kyiv Prosecutor Office reported on Thursday.

The official promised to approve a candidate to the post of a manager of an airline and help to certify the airline for the bribe.

Earlier the investigators recorded a fact of receiving $1,000 of bribe by the official.

The press service of the State Aviation Service told Interfax-Ukraine that the authority is ready to help to investigators and provides all the required information.
