Police detain 11 protesters in Kyiv on Wednesday, two of them already released

Kyiv police detained on Wednesday eleven protesters in the so-called 'government quarter' because the latter didn't want to give back police equipment, including shields, which were previously seized from law-enforcers.

"All in all, eleven people were detained, they were taken to the district police department and two have already been released. After administrative offence reports will be made, all of them will be released," the head of the press service of the capital's police department, Oksana Blyschyk, told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday evening.

According to her, law-enforcers tried to get back police shields, which were taken from them earlier. The officers for some time tried to persuade activists to return ammunition voluntarily, but the latter refused.

After that, the police had no choice but to retrieve their equipment back by force.
