Ukraine will continue to reduce the presence of Russian social media in the country, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

"Due to the sanctions imposed earlier this year on companies administering Russian search engines and social media, Russian websites have disappeared from the top ten most visited web resources in Ukraine," Poroshenko said in an annual address at the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday.

"Russian networks have been and remain tools for the special operations of Russian special services in the undeclared war on Ukraine," he said.

"Therefore, we'll keep on monitoring them closely and reducing their presence," he said.
