Troyan's assistant, Azov rep detained when receiving bribe

Assistant to Ukrainian Deputy Interior Minister Vadym Troyan has been detained on a bribe, he acted in collusion with a representative of the Azov public corps, the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia.Ukraine (ZN.UA) website reported, citing sources in a joint investigation group of the Security Service Ukraine and the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

According to the publication, investigators are checking the involvement of the detained Azov member in last year's attack on cash-in-transit couriers of Oschadbank in Zaporizhia.

The Prosecutor General's Office announced earlier on July 28 an assistant to an official of the Interior Ministry was apprehended when he was receiving a bribe of UAH 1.5 million.

Later this day, some media reported that this was Vadym Troyan himself. Half an hour later, this information was refuted.

However, ZN.UA sources do not rule out Troyan was present at the meeting where the money exchanged hands.

The website of the Interior Ministry reported Troyan is currently on vacation, and has recently participated in investigative actions in one of the criminal proceedings. "He hasn't been notified about any suspicions against him," the ministry said.
