Stoltenberg attends inauguration of new NATO office in Kyiv

A new office of the NATO mission to Ukraine was opened in a ceremony in Kyiv on Monday with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze in attendance.

"This is unique diplomatic representation in a partner country. No other country has such full-format representation," Klympush-Tsyntsadze said.

There is a consensus on Euro-Atlantic integration in Ukrainian society, Klympush-Tsyntsadze said. "Accession to the alliance won't resolve all our security problems, and we are not talking about accession today. But if someone can uphold the observance of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, it is the NATO members. The process of Ukraine's accession to the alliance is a strong incentive for transformations inside Ukraine," she said.

Stoltenberg said for his part that the alliance is providing solid support to Kyiv.

The new NATO office in Kyiv is now located at 4l Sikorsky Street, nearby the U.S. embassy to Ukraine.
