Ukraine is currently drawing up legislation on a state policy of restoration of state sovereignty over Donbas, which should be open to public debate and which Ukraine plans to present to its foreign partners, President Petro Poroshenko said.

"We are drawing up a bill. I would like to stress that we will have public debates, and most of the viewpoints should be taken into account and will certainly be presented to our international partners," Poroshenko told journalists in Washington on Tuesday, following negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, when he was asked about a bill on Donbas's reintegration.

As reported, on June 14, Poroshenko said work on a draft law on reintegrating Donbas, which will include a number of measures for the return of occupied Ukrainian territories. The president said experts and parliament members are involved in drafting the document. In addition, it is based on conditions included in the Minsk agreements.

On June 19, Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy said a concept of legislation on reintegration of the territories in Donbas that are currently not controlled by Kyiv is being discussed now, and the text of the document is not ready yet,

On June 20, Ukraine's presidential envoy in the parliament Iryna Lutsenko said the bill on state policy for the restoration of sovereignty in Donbas is likely to be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada after Poroshenko's return from his U.S. visit.
