NABU confirms Nasirov's detention in Feofaniya in corruption case

Employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) have detained the head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov in Feofaniya hospital. Nasirov is under investigation for corruption in the so-called "gas case."

"Yes, it's true. Nasirov was arrested as part of the investigation of the gas case," the NABU press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

Sources, close to the NABU, told the agency that the searches were carried out on Thursday at the State Fiscal Service by the NABU. The Specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office (SAPO) is also involved in the probe, which is looking into the restructuring of rent payments for gas production companies associated with Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deputy Oleksandr Onyshchenko.

MP Tetiana Chornovol earlier said orders for installment payments were personally signed by head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov.

Nasirov himself stated that it was common practice and such installments were received by more than half of participants of the oil and gas market.
