Some 64 applications received to take part in contest for National Police Head post – Avakov

Receipt of applications for a consultative contest for the post of the head of the National Police of Ukraine has been completed, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov has said.

"Receipt of applications for a consultative competition for the head of the National Police of Ukraine has been terminated. Some 64 applications were submitted, with which the competition commission starts working," Avakov wrote on his Twitter page on Monday.

As reported, the head of the Interior Ministry on December 15 announced a competition for the advisory post of the head of the National Police of Ukraine. The contest is open to all those who wish, both for the acting police officers, and other persons who meet the specified conditions. The contest is held by the advisory selection committee.

The basic requirements for applicants are: compliance with the general conditions of work in the police, full legal education, not less than seven years of experience in the field of law, at least five years of managerial experience. The basic personal and professional features: honesty and excellent reputation, motivation, political non-affiliation and others. A curriculum vitae and a cover letter are required for a primary participation in the competition.

Documents were accepted until January 8, 2017. Avakov hopes that a new head of Ukraine's National Police will be elected and appointed by mid-February.

On November 14 Khatia Dekanoidze announced her resignation from the post of the head of the National Police. The Interior minister accepted her resignation. Acting head of Ukraine's National Police is first deputy head of Ukraine's National Police Vadym Troyan.
