FM: Kyiv seeks to extend Russia sanction list

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said that Ukraine is working on a list of sanctions against Russia over the unlawful imprisonment of Ukrainian citizens, BBC Ukraine has reported.

"We will try to update the list as soon as we will have clear information about those involved in the trials against our political prisoners. We need real evidence to add someone to the sanctions list," Klimkin said.

The minister also said that Foreign Ministry is verifying information about Ukrainian prisoners in Russia not only from their relatives, but also international human rights watchdogs and lawyers.

"We are preparing new supplements to the sanction list," he said.

As reported, on October 17, 2016 Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko extended sanctions against some companies and individuals in response to Russian aggression against Ukraine. A total of 335 individuals were included in the list.
