Croatia offers to create bilateral group on implementation experience for occupied territories reintegration – Gerashchenko

Croatia has taken the initiative to establish a bilateral group for the study and implementation of the experience on the reintegration of the occupied territories, the first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ukraine's representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas, First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko has said.

Ukrainian MPs from different factions met with the new Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenkovic. The Croatian side initiated the creation of a bilateral group for the study and implementation of the experience for the reintegration of the occupied territories, their return to a peaceful life. Croatia has passed this terrible path of war: return of its territories and its recovery," Gerashchenko said on her Facebook page on Monday.

She said that the Croatian side understands that the conflict in Donbas region has its own peculiarities, and that the first issues after the return of the territories under Kyiv's control is demilitarization and reintegration, mine lifting, humanitarian settlement, as well as an inclusive dialogue.

"The Croatian colleagues are ready to share their experience in all areas: legal and humanitarian issues, mine lifting, fiscal and monetary policy. It has been agreed that on the basis of an informal parliamentary platform titled "Minsk platform," we will penetrate into the committee work, which is to work as an intergovernmental one," Gerashchenko said.

"She also said that during the meeting the sides discussed the release of the hostages, which require pressure from all over the world, and the aggravation of the situation over the occupied Crimea.

"In addition, the issues of bilateral cooperation and the European integration have been discussed." Croatia supports granting of a visa free regime to Ukraine and the full ratification of the Association Agreement," the first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada said.
