"Road map" of Minsk Agreements implementation should provide for hostage release

The "road map" for the implementation of the Minsk agreements on resolving the situation in the east of Ukraine should necessarily include a humanitarian aspect, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin has said.

"The said "road map" should include the safety factor [...] the logic of further political steps, and should necessarily include the humanitarian dimension. This means the foremost releasing of all hostages and political prisoners," Klimkin said at a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada during an hour questions to the government in Kyiv on Friday.

The minister said that during the high-level talks in Berlin in Normandy format it was agreed that "a meeting in foreign ministers format will be possibly held in November to discuss the logic of such a "road map."

As reported, according to First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the trilateral contact group on Donbas settlement Iryna Gerashchenko, as of October 20, there are 109 hostages in the occupied territories.
