Poroshenko, Orban discuss expansion of Ukrainian-Hungarian cooperation, sanctions against Russia

Within the framework of the working visit of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to Maastricht town (the Netherlands), the president has met with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, where the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral relations issues.

"It was agreed to enhance a bilateral political dialogue at all levels. The head of state expressed gratitude to the Hungarian government for the provision of humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $3.6 million and treatment of Ukrainian military men, wounded in the ATO (anti terrorist operation) zone," the press service of the presidential administration said on Thursday afternoon.

Poroshenko highly praised Hungarian support of the visa-free regime issue between Ukraine and the European Union, as well as the speedy ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

"In the context of the conflict settlement in Donbas, the sides discussed prospects for the continuation of economic sanctions against the Russian Federation as an effective tool to ensure full implementation of the Minsk agreements and the restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine over the occupied territories," the press service said.

The provided information says that interlocutors paid special attention to strengthening regional cooperation in the format of "Visegrad Four plus 1."
