Rada approves at first reading bill restricting access of anti-Ukrainian printed materials from Russia

Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has passed at first reading the bill amending some laws to restrict access of foreign printed materials with anti-Ukrainian content to the Ukrainian market (No. 5114).

An Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has reported that 250 lawmakers backed the decision on Thursday.

On September 8, 2016 Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers approved a bill permitting the State Committee of Television and Radio Broadcasting to ban imports of books from Russia and Crimea with anti-Ukrainian content to Ukraine.

"The bill is intended to introduce a mechanism for restricting access of anti-Ukrainian printed materials to the Ukrainian market," Head of the Committee Oleh Nalyvaiko said at a government meeting.

It is proposed to describe the procedure for getting permits to import and spread these products in Ukraine.
