Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Lacy Swing at a meeting with Head of the State Migration Service of Ukraine Maksym Sokoliuk guarantees that the IOM will keep supporting development of the Ukrainian migration sphere.

According to a posting on the website of Ukraine's Interior Ministry, Swing pointed out the achievement in developing the Ukrainian migration sphere, first of all, bringing legislation and the illegal foreigners detention centers in line with best practices.

Swing highly appreciated efforts of the State Migration Service in the past years, according to the report.

Sokoliuk thanked it for help in preventing human trafficking and support of internally displaced persons (IDPs), as well as the promotion of regular and safe labor migration.

"The IOM is a reliable partner of the State Migration Service in implementation of common goals to establish democratic values and high human rights protection standards in Ukraine. We appreciate your support and thank for help in the implementation of the effective migration policy," he said.

Sokoliuk congratulated Swing on the occasion of becoming a related organization at the United Nations.

Sokoliuk expressed gratitude to IOM Ukraine's Chief of Mission Manfred Profazi for his role and influence on the implementation of the migration policy in Ukraine and development of friendly and constructive relations between the organizations.
