Buk missile shot MH17 down delivered from Russia, returned to Russian territory

Joint International Investigation Team (JIT) has concluded that the MH17 plane was downed by a Buk missile, which was delivered to the territory of Donbas from Russia and was taken back there after the tragedy.

"Based on the criminal investigation, we have concluded that flight MH17 was downed by a Buk missile of the series 9M83 that came from the territory of the Russian Federation," a representative of the team, chief Dutch police investigator, Wilbert Paulissen, said at a press conference in Hague on Wednesday, which was broadcast live by 112.Ukraina TV channel.

After the missile was launched, the Buk was subsequently returned into the territory of Russia through Krasny Luch, Debaltseve and Luhansk, Paulissen said.

In his words, late at night on July 17 Buk was brought to the town of Snizhne, where it was loaded on a carrier vehicle and late in the evening on July 17 it started moving in the direction of Russia.

He noted that the route of the missile launcher was reconstructed with the help of witnesses from local community and fighters of the pro-Russian forces, who took part in the evacuation of the Buk missile system to Russian territory.
