Medvedev not ruling out breakoff of diplomatic ties with Ukraine

The decision to sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine could be made by the Russian leadership if Moscow has no other tools left to "sober up" Kyiv, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"As for the breakoff of our diplomatic relations, you know, history saw all kinds of things. I will recall that after the well-known events our diplomatic relations with Georgia were cut off," he told reporters in Sochi, responding to a question posed by Interfax.

"I would not want that to happen, but if there is no other option left to impact on the situation, the [Russian] president could make such a decision," the prime minister said.
