Kerry meets Georgian opposition in Tbilisi, flies to Kyiv

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has completed his one-day visit to Georgia with a meeting with Georgian opposition and the Georgian parliamentary speaker on Thursday morning.

Representatives from the United National Movement that was founded by ex-Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Free Democrats were present at the meeting with Kerry.

The meeting touched upon domestic situation in Georgia and the parliamentary election in Georgia in October, United National Movement leader David Bakradze told journalists after the meeting.

Kerry also met with Georgian parliamentary speaker David Usupashvili. "Kerry's visit to Georgia was very important, particularly ahead of the Warsaw summit of NATO. Georgia and the United States are deepening cooperation and it is very important for Georgia to have huge support from the U.S.," Usupashvili said.

Kerry flew from Tbilisi to Kyiv, an Interfax correspondent reported.
