Latest poll says 52% support Britain's membership in EU

The majority of Britons said they wished to stay in the EU, according to the opinion poll held by Ipsos Mori for The Evening Standard newspaper on the eve of the referendum on the UK exit from the EU.

Some 52% of those surveyed said they supported Britain's membership in the EU, while 48% said they wanted their country to leave the Union, the poll said.

However, 12% of those polled said they were prone to last minute changes of opinion and could vote differently at the referendum.

A total of 1,592 were questioned for the poll on Wednesday, June 22. Its results were published after the vote started on June 23.

Another poll conducted by the Populus company said that 55% of Britons are against the country's exit from the EU, while 45% support the Brexit.
