Ukraine's Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has said military prosecutors have criminal proceedings on more than 700 persons charged with treason.

"The military prosecutor's office has cases on more than 700 persons charged with treason," he said at a press conference in Kyiv.

"We set the task for this year to convict traitors of Ukraine [in the context of the annexation of Crimea]," he said.

Lutsenko noted the materials on more than 700 persons, who are charged under Article 111 "Treason" relate to deputies, prosecutors, judges and other senior officials of Crimea. According to him, UAH 9 million is foreseen for all these people to undergo the procedure of conviction in absentia and printing and sending convocation letters to them.

At the same time, he expressed hope all the traitors would be put on the international wanted list under Article 111 "with all their confiscated property in the territory of Ukraine."
