EU-Ukraine association project launched in Kyiv

The European Union and the Ukrainian government are launching "The Association4U/Association for Ukraine and for You" joint project, which aims to support the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

The presentation of the project took place in Kyiv on Thursday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

"It is important to explain to our fellow citizens and to show business executives that it is promising and economically advantageous today to live in accordance with European rules and procedures," Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said.

She said the government's task is to actively engage parliament and civil society in a lively conversation on the subject.

EU Ambassador to Ukraine Jan Tombinski noted that this project was a continuation of EU efforts for the European integration of Ukraine. "The project we are launching today aims to help all Ukrainian institutions, primarily the government and the parliament so that they can explain to Ukrainian institutions the importance of adopting European standards in the Ukrainian legislation," the diplomat said.

This requires a huge mobilization of all Ukrainian partners, including civil society.

"In general, the project is intended to strengthen the institutional capacity of Ukrainian government with the aim of effective implementation of the commitments undertaken by the country under the implementation of the Association Agreement. Readiness of state institutions for this is extremely important," the press release on the occasion of the project launch says.

The project budget exceeds EUR 7 million. It provides for the involvement not only of European experts, but of Ukrainian specialists.
