Poroshenko proposes measures for 'de-offshorization'

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko considers it necessary to take a number of steps towards "de-offshorization."

"First of all, I instruct the Ministry of Finance, the State Fiscal Service to ensure Ukraine's accession to the international interdepartmental convention on providing Ukraine with access to the accounts of non-residents... I want it to happen no later than January 1, 2017. After that Ukraine should automatically receive information from around the world about the accounts of Ukrainian residents in any bank in the world," the president said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels.

He said it is also necessary to pass the law on the introduction of the status of a controlled foreign company, which will be prepared and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada in near future.

"In addition, tax rates must be correspondent. We have to ensure the harmonization of tax laws," Poroshenko said.

He said the parliament's decision on changes to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the judicial reform and the implementation of anti-corruption measures are important in this context.
