Opposition Bloc asking G7 embassies to facilitate investigation into Odesa events of May 2

The Opposition Bloc faction has appealed to the diplomatic missions of G7 states with the request to assist in the investigation into the events that took place in Odesa on May 2, 2014.

According to the press service of the Opposition Bloc, a letter to G7 embassies, in particular, draws attention to the situation with the investigation into the tragedy, which occurred in Odesa in May 2014, when 49 people were killed in a fire in the House of Trade Unions.

"Obtaining a more complete and thorough understanding of all the circumstances of this tragedy are being delayed artificially. Over the past two years the investigation into the case had not made a step forward. We appeal to you asking to support our initiatives at the diplomatic level, to ensure a lawful and fair investigation into the events of May 2, 2014 in Odesa. We are confident that a fair investigation into this crime would be an important contribution to the protection of human rights in Ukraine," the press service of the faction said.

On its part, the Opposition Bloc promised it would do everything possible both for the assistance to the families of victims and restoring their legitimate rights. In particular, it is preparing an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights on this issue.
