Batkivschyna moves to opposition in Rada– Tymoshenko

The leader of the Batkivschyna party's faction in Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, Yulia Tymoshenko has announced a withdrawal of her political force from talks on the formation of a new coalition and into the opposition.

"Today I can announce a consolidated decision of our political force. We have decided to pull out of this hopeless negotiating process over creation of a new coalition. We are moving into democratic, pro-European opposition," she said on Tuesday after holding a party conference, her spokesperson said.

At the same time, the faction will continue to support legislative initiatives the country needs, the faction leader said.

"If parliament comes up with bills that are really needed by our country, which can help people at this difficult time, our team in parliament will vote for what we consider right and necessary," she said.

Tymoshenko stressed that the move into opposition is the only right decision under current social and economic conditions.

"Otherwise we, as a democratic force, could be a shield, a cover-up for this disgrace being done behind the curtains," the Batkivschyna leader said.
